Herbert “Jerry†C. Wirt of Duxbury, died May 16 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Boston. He was 73. Mr. Wirt was a lifelong resident of Duxbury, and graduated from Duxbury High School in 1954. He was a retired master plumber, having owned and operated Wirt Plumbing, Inc., for many years. He was a member of the Duxbury American Legion Post 223. Mr. Wirt was an avid sailor and boater, and enjoyed fishing and carpentry. Mr. Wirt leaves his wife, Suzanne Fisk Wirt of Duxbury; his daughters, Lisa Wirt Hebert, Lori Wirt, and Pamela Barter; his step-daughters, Kimberly Blazie, Tammy Huber, and Kristin Dame; his sister, Judy Turella; 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 22 at 1 p.m. at the First Parish Unitarian Church in Duxbury and will be followed by a celebration of his life at the Duxbury American Legion Post 223 Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1 Bromfield St., 5th floor, Boston, MA 02108. |
