William M. Garrity, 81, died on May 4 in New Port Richey, Fla. Mr. Garrity was a retired plumber who owned Duxbury Plumbing and Heating and was the town of Duxbury’s plumbing inspector. He was a graduate of Duxbury High School where he starred in football, basketball and baseball. He was a Duxbury volunteer firefighter, American Legion member of Duxbury/Plymouth, a member of the Duxbury Recreation Committee, a Duxbury Little League coach, and Tarkiln Youth baseball leader. Mr. Garrity was a member of the Plymouth Country Club and North Hill Golf Course. Mr. Garrity leaves his wife, Barbara Jardine Garrity; his children Michael and Sheila Bruce of Manomet, Robert and Susanne Schaffer of Lynn, Thomas Garrity of Duxbury, Jon and Betsy Spence of China, Maine, David and Ann Prince of Duxbury, Jane and Aaron Richardson of Vernon, Fla.; his ex-wife, Patricia Loring Garrity; a brother, Ken Garrity of Quincy; four step children, 15 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. His ashes are spread at Mayflower Cemetery and Magnolia Valley Golf Club. |
