John E. McCluskey, MD of Duxbury, died on March 7. He was 99 years old. Dr. McCluskey was born and raised in Manchester, Conn. In Manchester, he won the first Manchester road race in 1927. He practiced medicine in the Brockton area for many years. In his retirement he worked as a doctor at Braintree Rehabilitation Hospital. He was involved with Cardinal Cushing Pilgrimages, and was active in international charities with various Catholic associations. It was while involved with these charities that he visited Lourdes and Peru. He has been a resident of Duxbury since 1976. Husband of Helen M. McCluskey. Father of Mary McCaffrey and her husband Larry of New York, and John McCluskey and his wife Robin of Duxbury. Grandfather of Brigid McCaffrey of CA, Nora McCaffrey of NY, Meghan McCluskey of S. Boston, and Patrick McCluskey of Duxbury. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, March 9 from 5-8 p.m. at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St. (Rt. 106) Kingston. A funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Church, 601 Tremont St. Duxbury, on Tuesday, March 10 at 10 a.m. Interment will be at the Mayflower Cemetery in Duxbury.
