Jane White Cline died Sunday afternoon Jan. 4, at Jordan Hospital in Plymouth after an illness of several months. She was the wife of the late Robert Albion Cline. She was the daughter of William and Regina (Palmer) White. Mrs. Cline leaves her sister Patricia White Jones of Madison, Conn., sons Christopher Brandt Cline of Westford, William Cline of Duxbury and Donald Cline of Halifax along with 9 grandchildren, a great-grandson and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Cline was born in 1931 in Stamford, Connecticut. She grew up in Stamford where she met and married her husband in 1950. Mrs. Cline and her family settled in Duxbury in 1966 where she was active in the community. In her younger days, she worked as a bookkeeper and volunteered for the Cub Scouts, serving as the first Den Mother in Duxbury.  She was an avid gardener known for growing dahlias. Mrs. Cline also loved to knit, making beautiful afghans, scarves and other gifts. She was a member of the American Legion Woman’s Auxiliary for 37 years and served as president of the Woman’s Auxiliary several times. Whether selling poppies on Memorial Day weekend, passing out hot dogs during the parade, or organizing donations for the Veteran’s Administration Hospital, honoring veterans was an important aspect of her life. A memorial service will be held at Shepherds Funeral Home 216 Main St. Kingston, Jan. 24, at 1 p.m. A reception will follow the service at the Duxbury American Legion Post 223 at the corner of Rte 3A & West St. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Duxbury American Legion Scholarship Fund, PO Box 1113, Duxbury, 02331. |
