Clorinda “Lindy†Gray Banks, died Dec. 14 in Duxbury. Ms. Banks was born Oct. 3, 1917 in Lowell, where she was raised. She graduated from Peter Bent Brigham Hospital School of Nursing in 1939 and worked intermittently at Lowell General Hospital. Following her marriage to Thomas Edwin Banks in 1940 she lived in Chelmsford, where she was active in the Unitarian First Parish Church, including singing in the choir. She was an expert seamstress, and she sewed most of the clothing for herself and her daughters. Ms. Banks and family moved to Duxbury in 1967 and became active with the Unitarian Universalist First Parish Church of Duxbury. She enjoyed playing bridge, taught classes, and ran bridge games in the Duxbury area. The American Bridge League granted her a Bronze Life Master Certificate in 1997. Ms. Banks was preceded in death by her husband Thomas. She leaves three daughters and their families, Phyllis Cassel and her husband Richard of Palo Alto, CA, Cynthia Blake and her husband John of Litchfield, NH, and Elizabeth Banks of Davis, CA. She also leaves eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Ms. Banks’ life at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 3, at the First Parish Church in Duxbury. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Jan. 2, at the Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the First Parish Church of Duxbury. |
