Elizabeth “Liz†Burman-Maloney of Plymouth, age 55, died Dec. 17 at Jordan Hospital. She leaves her son, Francis Scott Maloney of Duxbury, and her mother, Elaine McConnell, whom she cared for at their home in Plymouth. She was also the daughter of the late Alexander Burman of London and New Zealand and the sister of John Burman of Kansas City, Missouri. Ms. Burman-Maloney was born in Chelsea and grew up in Quincy where she graduated from North Quincy High School in 1972. She attended Massachusetts College of Barbering and, after receiving her barber’s license, worked briefly in Cohasset, before opening the Clipper Ship Hairstyling at One Bay Road in Duxbury which she ran from 1977 to 1987 before moving the shop into her home at 35 Bay Road after her son was born in 1986. She also started a companion hair salon to her barber shop called the Starboard Side, later Gloria’s Hair Salon. A memorial service was held Dec. 22 at Holy Family Church.  |
