Ms. Trebby was born on April 30, 1923 in Vineyard Haven, daughter of the late Clarence and Helen Chapman. She lived nearly all her life on Martha’s Vineyard before moving to New Hampshire four years ago. She was a member of Grace Church in Vineyard Haven, serving on the Altar Guild, Vestry Committee and in the choir. She participated in fundraisers such as soup suppers, lobster roll nights and other parish activities, which allowed everyone to enjoy her cooking talents, especially her pies. She was also active in the Island Food Pantry and Vineyard Committee on Hunger. In addition, she enjoyed theater and music, participating in local island productions. She was the wife of the late Louis J. Trebby. She leaves three siblings, Anne Seadale of Newfield, ME, Thomas Chapman of Duxbury, and Mary Helen Smith of Framingham. She was the sister of the late Parker and Robert Chapman and Barbara James. She also leaves her eight children, Bettina Trebby Preston of Hillsborough, NH, Maria Trebby of Boise, ID, John Trebby of Nantucket; Carla Metell of Melrose, Robert Trebby of Charlestown, Regina Brenner of Winthrop; Julia Fernandez of Gilbert, AZ, and Thomas Trebby of Vineyard Haven, and her nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Martha’s Vineyard in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Island Food Pantry, P.O. Box 1874, Vineyard Haven, MA 02568 or the Chapman Memorial Fund at Grace Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 1197,Vineyard Haven, MA 02568.  |
