Mercy Kellen Goin, of Duxbury, died Dec. 4, at Mass. General Hospital in Boston. She was the wife of the late Oria Goin. Born in Plymouth on June 27, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Roger and Margaret (Russell) Kellen. Mercy was the mother of Roger Lorn Goin and his wife Agnese of Kingsport TN, and Patricia Goin-St Clair of Plymouth, She also leaves three grandchildren. She was very proud of her pilgrim heritage, being a descendent of the Russell lineage and Kellen lineage. Mercy had a great love of music, she sang in many churches as a soloist and was a longtime member of the Choral Art Society and other choruses. She played the bells, piano and violin in the Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra, and helped with Bay Players productions. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Duxbury, being the Church clerk for many years. Mercy also worked at Buttner’s store in Plymouth, Sears order office in Plymouth, Duxbury Free Library and the Good Shepherd Nursery School in Duxbury. A service will be held on Wednesday Dec. 10 at the Cartmell Funeral Home, 150 Court St. Plymouth, at 12:30 p.m. followed by burial in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Plymouth. Donations in Mercy’s memory may be made to the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society, WDCS Inc., 7 Nelson Street, Plymouth MA 02360. |
