Diane Noble, 56, of Portland, Maine, formerly of Duxbury and Fairfield, Conn., died peacefully at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House on Nov. 14, surrounded by her family. She was born in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, N.Y. April 23, 1952, the daughter of Robert and Bernadette E. Gauntt. She was a 1970 graduate of Roger Ludlowe High School in Fairfield and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from Muhlenburg College in 1973. In 1974, she married John F. “Tuck†Noble, III. While raising her three children with her husband in Duxbury, Diane was the co-founder of Duxbury Bay Baskets, creating hand woven Shaker baskets for the Plimouth Plantation and The Country Loft catalog. She taught her craft throughout southern Massachusetts for 15 years. In her free time Diane enjoyed walks on her favorite beach, Ferry Beach in Scarborough, with her daughter Kelly and trips to Popham Beach after a storm. She also enjoyed escaping to her home in Rangeley, Maine with a good book and family and then returning to her home with the magnificent view from the Eastern Promenade. She was a former member of the Guild of Saint Irene at Saint Sebastian’s Country Day School, Needham, and a current member of the Jeremiah Milbank Society. Diane was preceded in death by a son, John F. “Kip†Noble. She leaves her husband John F. “Tuck†Noble III of Portland, her parents, Robert and Bernadette Gauntt of Venice, Fla., a daughter, Kelly of Portland and a son Robert of Boston. A memorial service will be celebrated in the chapel of Saint Bartholomew Parish in Needham on Tuesday Nov. 25 at 4 p.m. with a reception at St. Sebastian’s Country Day School immediately following. Arrangements were handled by Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, in Portland. In lieu of flowers, donations in Diane’s memory may be made to: Gosnell Memorial Hospice House. 11 Hunnewell Road, Scarborough, ME 04074 |
