Dena Murdoch, 89, of Duxbury died Nov. 9, at the Golden Living Center in Cohasset. She was the wife of the late Laurence H. Murdoch of Duxbury. Born January 19, 1919 in Clarksdale, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Rosa (Vitali) Zepponi. During WWII, Dena worked as a bookkeeper for the US Navy Department where she met her future husband who was serving in the Navy. They moved to Duxbury at the end of the war. Dena also worked as a bookkeeper at the Duxbury Free Library. Dena especially enjoyed being with her family, her pets, reading, working outdoors and the Duxbury Senior Center. She is a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church. Dena leaves her daughters, Janet Murdoch of Marshfield, Christine Richmond and her husband, Preston of Winter Park, FL, her granddaughter, Susie Richmond of Newton, her grandson, Derek Richmond of Arlington, VA, several nephews and a niece. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, Nov. 16 from 2-4 p.m. at the Richard Davis Funeral Home, 373 Court St., N. Plymouth. A graveside service will be held on Monday, Nov. 17 at 10 o’clock at the Mayflower Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Friends of the Duxbury Council on Aging, PO Box 2113, Duxbury, MA 02331. |
