Retired Worcester Fire Department Deputy Chief, Paul F. Sardagnola of Duxbury and Delray Beach died on September 8
Retired Worcester Fire Department Deputy Chief, Paul F. Sardagnola of Duxbury and Delray Beach died on September 8. Paul was born and grew up in Worcester and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a Worcester firefighter for 32 years, rising through the ranks until retiring as Deputy Chief in 1986. He moved to Duxbury in 1990. He was a quiet man with a quick smile, known by his peers as one of the most sincere and dedicated firefighters in the Worcester Fire Dept. Paul was a member of the International Brotherhood of Firefighters Union Local 1009, the Worcester Fire Relief Association, the Worcester Credit Union, the Duxbury American Legion Post and the Green Harbor Yacht Club. He was also an enthusiastic golfer and sports fan. Paul leaves his wife of 58 years, Norma (Perotto) Sardagnola; two children, Paul Sardagnola and his wife Donna of Shrewsbury, Margaret Sardagnola and her husband Thomas McLaughlin of Boca Raton, FL,; three grandchildren, Christine Polcino of Arlington, VA, Anthony Polcino of Philadelphia and Tricia Sardagnola of Shrewsbury; two brothers, Peter and Francis Sargent of Lithonia, GA; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Michael, Alphonse, John and Joseph Sardagnola, and Anna Chloda and Jeanne Shadbegian. Paul’s funeral was held on September 11 at the Mercandante Funeral Home in Worcester. |
