Anne (Kirby) McCarthy, 78, had five great-grandchildren

Anne (Kirby) McCarthy, 78, of Duxbury, died on Sunday, Aug. 30. She was the wife of the late Francis McCarthy.

Anne (Kirby) McCarthy, 78, of Duxbury, died on Sunday, Aug. 30. She was the wife of the late Francis McCarthy.

She leaves her children Paula Haswell of Nevada, Susan Hadley of Rhode Island, Janet Traves of Oregon, and Jeanne Kittredge of Duxbury. She was also the mother of the late Stephen M. McCarthy. She also leaves her sisters Gerard Kirby of Duxbury and Jeanne Mahoney of Brant Rock, seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Family and friends are welcome to gather at the Shepherd Funeral Home, Main Street, Kingston on Thursday, Sept. 4, at 9 a.m., followed by a Mass at Holy Family Church in Duxbury, at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mayflower Cemetery in Duxbury.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cranberry Hospice, 36 Cordage Park Circle, Suite 326 Plymouth, MA 02360.
