Diane Kimball (Doyle) Snider, 70, of Brooksville, Fla. died Saturday August 30 at the Hernando Hospice Care Center in Brooksville, Fla. Mrs. Snider was born on March 6, 1938 in Brockton to the late Russell L. and Doris (Kimball) Doyle of Duxbury. She graduated from Duxbury High School in 1956 and worked as an operator for New England Telephone Company, eventually retiring from AT&T in 1990. For many years, Mrs. Snider and her husband John ran “Snider’s Christmas Trees and Wreaths” at their home in Duxbury. She enjoyed dual membership in Masaryktown Baptist Church in Florida and the First Baptist Church of Duxbury, which her grandparents helped establish. Mrs. Snider will be remembered as a woman of unshakable faith, a loving mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed reading, bible study, singing in the church choir, exercise class, spending time with her friends and family and her dog Abbey. She gave selflessly to various community organizations, always confident of the ability of one person to make a difference in the lives of many. Mrs. Snider was the driving force behind the establishment of a Healing Garden with the Compassionate Friends organization in Brooksville, Fla. and those close to her will remember her many “random acts of kindness,” such as the time she became the “Shoebox Santa,” delivering beautifully wrapped shoe boxes filled with stuffed toys and goodies to sick children at Oak Hill Hospital, Spring Hill Hospital and the Dawn Center of Hernando County, Fla. Mrs. Snider leaves two sons, Mark A. Snider and his wife Kristal of Naples, Fla.; Scott “Kim” Snider and his wife Kerry of Rochester; and a daughter, Heidi Olwell and her husband Jerry of Plymouth; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren; a brother Russell A. Doyle and his wife Penny of Duxbury; two sisters, Darlene Hiller of Masaryktown, Fla. and Denise Sullivan of Spring Hill, Fla., and numerous nieces and nephews. She was the wife of the late John P. Snider, her first husband, the wife of the late David Hirsch, her second husband, as well as the mother of the late David J. Snider, John “Rusty” Snider, and Arlyn D. Snider. Visiting hours will be at Shepherds Funeral Home, 216 Main Street, Rt. 106, Kingston on Friday, Sept. 5, from 4-7 p.m. A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Duxbury on Saturday, Sept. 6, at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be madeto Hernando Pasco Hospice, 12107 Majestic Blvd., Hudson, FL 34667. |
