Walter E. Briscoe, 85, of Duxbury, and formerly of Weymouth, died on
Sunday, August 17. Mr. Briscoe is one of thirteen children and was
born, raised, and educated in Randolph.
Walter E. Briscoe, 85, of Duxbury, and formerly of Weymouth, died on Sunday, August 17. Mr. Briscoe is one of thirteen children and was born, raised, and educated in Randolph. He is a graduate of Randolph High School. Following his graduation from high school Mr. Briscoe enlisted in the U.S. Army, and was stationed in Germany during World War II. He is a recipient of the Purple Heart. Following his honorable discharge from the Army he went on to work as a manager at the Rennie Curtain factory in Boston. He was also a member of the Knights of Pythias. Mr. Briscoe was a very active member of the Weymouth Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He loved to travel, and enjoyed the outdoors. He also loved to spend time with his family.{sidebar id=4} Mr. Briscoe leaves his wife Marilyn Briscoe, his children; Eric Briscoe and his wife Diane of Abington, Leslie Clarke and her husband Jonathan of Duxbury. He was also the father of the late Lynne Wisneski and her husband Frank of Duxbury. He leaves his siblings; Mabel Briscoe of Abington, Betty Theriault of Stoughton, Beverly Robinson of Berklee, and Loretta Pinnetti of Easton. He was also the brother of the late Ruth Corrigan, Pauline Moody, Roger Briscoe, Alton Briscoe, Harriett Smith, Eileen Stevens, Kenneth Briscoe, and Gail Briscoe. He leaves ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Monday, Aug. 25, 10 a.m., at the First Baptist Church of Weymouth, 40 West Street. Burial will be at the Village Cemetery in Weymouth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 36 Cameron Ave., Cambridge, MA 02140 and/or National Breast Cancer Foundation, 2600 Network Blvd., Suite 300, Frisco, TX 75034. |
