Robert Albion Cline, 81, died Thursday evening May 22 at Tufts Medical Center in Boston after a brief illness.

Robert Albion Cline, 81, died Thursday evening May 22 at Tufts Medical Center in Boston after a brief illness.  He was born on March 31, 1927 in Detroit, Mich. to Albion and Elsia Cline.  His father and grandfather lived in Middleboro before moving the family to Robinson, Maine where Mr. Cline spent much of his youth.  He joined the Navy in 1945 and served in World War II.  He later moved to Connecticut where he married his beloved wife Jane White Cline in 1950 before serving his country again in the Korean War.  During his Naval career Mr. Cline received several military honors including the Purple Heart.obit-cline-5-28.jpg

Mr. Cline settled in Duxbury in 1966 where he was an active and respected member of the community.  He was also known as a leader for his many years of work in the fields of electronic security and fire alarm.  A true American patriot, Mr. Cline was an honorary lifetime member of the American Legion.  He was very active with the Duxbury American Legion, Post 223 and served as their Commander numerous times.

Mr. Cline leaves his wife of 58 years, Jane White Cline, children C. Brandt and Teresa Cline of Westford, William and Dorothy Cline of Duxbury and Donald and Lori Cline of Halifax along with grandchildren, Daniel Cline of Albuquerque, N.M., Derek and Katie Cline of Fort Worth, Texas, Robert and Nickolas Cline of Duxbury, Josephine and James Cline of Halifax and Rachel, Ryan and Marisa Cline of Westford, and a soon to be great grandchild.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, May 31, at 1 p.m., at Shepherd’s Funeral Home, 216 Main Street, Kingston. Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life immediately following the service at the Duxbury American Legion Post 223, Corner of Route 3A and West Street.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Duxbury American Legion Scholarship Fund, PO Box 1113, Duxbury, MA 02331.
