Mr. Peterson, 83, of Duxbury died on April 6. Mr. Peterson was born on August 17, 1925 in Duxbury and he graduated from Duxbury High School in 1943.

Mr. Peterson, 83, of Duxbury died on April 6. Mr. Peterson was born on August 17, 1925 in Duxbury and he graduated from Duxbury High School in 1943. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in WWII. Following his military service, he attended Tufts University Engineering School and graduated in 1948. He was employed by the General Electric Company in the Aircraft Engine Division from 1948 to 1986. During his employment he held many different engineering and management positions. He received three managerial awards for outstanding contributions to the business. Following his retirement in 1986, Mr. and Mrs. Peterson spent their summers in Moultonboro, N.H. and their winters traveling. They moved to the Stonecrest Golf and Country Club in Summerfield, Fla. in 1996.{sidebar id=1}

Mr. Peterson was a member of the Norwich University Board of Fellows, a member of the Elfun Society, a trustee at the First Methodist Church of Wakefield, a member of the Lady Lake American Legion Post 347, a member of the Disabled Veterans of America Saugus Mass. Chapter115, a volunteer in the North Lake Presbyterian Church Homebound Program, a Marion County Hospice volunteer, a member of the Stonecrest Veterans Club and a member of the North Lake Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Peterson leaves his wife of 55 years, Mrs. Caryl Peterson, sons, Jeffery S. Peterson of Deerfield, N.H., and Col. Jay W. Peterson of Oahu, Hawaii, a daughter, Mrs. Joy Ann Alfonso of Tampa, Fla., sisters, Mrs. Phyllis Frazar of Duxbury and Mrs. Ann G. Wiswell of Topsfield and seven grandchildren.

Memorial services were held on Mon., April 14, at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services in The Villages, Florida. Burial was performed with full military honors in the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla.{sidebar id=6}
