Robert L. Ryan, 83, a resident of Hernando, Fla. for the past 14 years
and a former 21-year resident of Duxbury died on Monday, March 31.
Robert L. Ryan, 83, a resident of Hernando, Fla. for the past 14 years and a former 21-year resident of Duxbury died on Monday, March 31. He was born on April 23, 1924 in Berlin, N.H, a son of the late Peter A. and Marian Dale Ryan. Mr. Ryan was a U.S. Marine veteran, having served his country honorably in both WWII and the Korean War.{sidebar id=1} Prior to his retirement he had worked for Armour Meat Co. for 43 years. He then owned Lefty Portside Co. in Florida. While in Florida, he was an active member of the Citrus Hills community where he enjoyed golfing and playing cards. He was also very active in community services in his earlier years and was a past school board member in Haverhill and Berlin, N.H. Mr. Ryan was the husband of the late Diana Burkhart Ryan to whom he was married for 17 years and the late Denise O’Donnell Ryan to whom he was married for 37 years. He leaves three daughters; Dale M. Ryan and her partner Edward Kaiser of Woonsocket, R.I, Anne O’Moore and her husband Michael of Long Beach, Calif. and Betsy R. Malynn, and her husband Michael of Westford, and two grandchildren; Shannon O’Donnell Malynn and Michael Ryan Malynn both of Westford. He also leaves a sister, Dorothy Monahan of Methuen and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late James Ryan. Visiting hours were held on April 4 at the Blake Funeral Home, 24 Worthen Street, Chelmsford. A Funeral Mass followed at St. Mary’s Church, Chelmsford. A graveside service took place April 5. at the Mayflower Cemetery on Tremont Street. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472.{sidebar id=6} |
