Katherine Zetrouer Rabideau, a long time resident of Duxbury, died in Tampa, Florida, on March 16 following a long illness. Katherine Zetrouer Rabideau, a long time resident of Duxbury, died in Tampa, Florida, on March 16 following a long illness. She was born in Windsor, Florida on March 13, 1920, the daughter of Edgar Rufus Zetrouer and Wilhelmina Campbell Dunn Zetrouer and was the youngest of seven children. She was descended from pioneer settlers in Alachua County, Fla. Because her mother died when the infant daughter was two weeks old, she was reared by her mother’s sister at her home in Cincinnati, Ohio. She returned to her family in Florida when a teenager and was graduated from Sarasota High School. As a young woman she moved to Boston where she was employed as a travel agent, a career which afforded her the opportunity to travel to a number of countries in Europe and Asia. In 1950 she married Edgar B. Rabideau, and after living in Stamford, Connecticut for a time they settled in Duxbury where they resided until his death in 2003. During their retirement years they also enjoyed a home in Sarasota, Florida. Mrs. Rabideau was preceded in death by her beloved husband; and by two brothers, Lawrence S. Zetrouer and Edgar R. Zetrouer, Jr., and four sisters Myrtle Z. Wynn, Mildred Z. Hook, Buena Z. Brown and Margaret (Marvel) Zetrouer. Surviving are her four nieces, Peg Hook Gardner of Tampa, FL, who was her caregiver during her last years; Jane Hook Conyers of Austell, Georgia; Dolores Wynn Mayer of Sarasota, and Kathleen MacAskill Sloan of Harwinton, Connecticut. Funeral Services will be held at St. John the Evangelist Church, 410 Washington St., Duxbury, at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26, 2008. Burial will follow at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Her nieces will receive friends at McDonald Funeral Home in South Weymouth at 809 Main St. (Rte. 18 opposite South Shore Hospital) Wednesday from 11 a.m. to noon. Memorial gifts may be given to St. John the Evangelist Church.
