Mr. John R. Carmody, 79, of Danvers, husband of Barbara Horne Carmody,
died Sunday, Feb. 17 in the Peabody Glen Health Care Center in Peabody.
Mr. John R. Carmody, 79, of Danvers, husband of Barbara Horne Carmody, died Sunday, Feb. 17 in the Peabody Glen Health Care Center in Peabody. Born and raised in Boston, he was the son of the late James J. and Mary A. Kerwin Carmody. Mr. Carmody received his education in the Boston school system and graduated from the New England Conservatory of Music and Northeastern University. He also received his Master’s Degree in business from Suffolk University.{sidebar id=1} An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during the Korean Conflict as a member of the United States Army. Mr. Carmody had been employed for over thirty years as a national sales manager for the Proctor and Gamble Company in Cincinnati, Ohio until the time of his retirement. An accomplished writer and composer, Mr. Carmody wrote the play, “A Cup of Sand” as well as the music for the play. He was a lifetime member of the Dramatist Guild in New York City. Mr. Carmody leaves his wife Barbara with whom he shared 24 years of marriage. He was also the husband of the late Mary Irene Carmody. He leaves a son, Robert J. Carmody of Kingston, a daughter, Anne Antonellis of Duxbury, three stepsons, Mark O’Donnell, Paul O’Donnell and Dennis O’Donnell, all of Danvers, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was also the brother of the late James Carmody. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018.{sidebar id=4} |
