Jonna Green, DHS ’03, was the recipient of the 2012 Heilman Award for Excellence. The award was conferred on June 4 by Horizons for Homeless Children at the Westin Copley in Boston. Jonna is the children’s case manager at the Old Colony YMCA Family Center in Brockton. The award recognizes her leadership, commitment and creativity in support of homeless families. At the 2012 graduation exercises at New York University Alton F. Phillips IV was awarded his Doctorate in Sociology. Alton is a graduate of Vassar College as well as Tabor Academy. He is the son of Alton Phillips III of Duxbury and Carla Phillips of Holbrook.

Girl Scout Troop 80531 had the opportunity to meet Ruth Branson CEO of the GS Council of Eastern Massachusetts at the Go Green festival celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Girl Scouting held on the Barnstable Fair Grounds last weekend.

Emma Schroeder, a junior at Duxbury High School, will be sponsored by the Duxbury American Legion Auxiliary at the annual Girls State program at Stonehill College in Easton from June 16-22. Emma is a member of the National Honor Society and a captain of the varsity cheerleading team. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Schroeder.  Girls State is a program for high school junior girls where they learn about American government by taking part in a mock government system.

Kellie A. Hennessy, a nursing major and a member of the class of 2014, was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2012 semester at Saint Anselm College, Manchester, N.H.

Alexandra K. Watts, a junior majoring in psychology at Western new England University, was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester.

Nicole A. Striebel graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in management from Clark University in Worcester on May 20.

Elwin McCarthy, Jr. earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration degree in management from Nichols College on May 5.

Christopher Trumbo was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Nichols College.

Meaghan Reney was named to the dean’s lsit for the spring semester at High Point University in North Carolina.
