The Board of Selectmen recognized outgoing Selectman Christopher Donato at his last meeting Monday, presenting him with a proclamation honoring him for his three years of service to the town.

Selectmen thanked Donato for his distinctive service to Duxbury and recognized his accomplishments as a selectman. Donato was elected in 2009 and became a champion of transparency in local government, standing up against issues he felt were unjust such as the town manager’s decision not to renew former Police Chief Mark Deluca’s contract in 2009 and the town’s handling of the North Hill golf course contract in 2008.

“Christopher R. Donato came on the Board of Selectmen to give a voice to those who felt their voices were not being heard,” read Chairman Shawn Dahlen from the proclamation. “And he has represented those individuals and encouraged others to get involved in service to the Town of Duxbury. Donato has passionately advocated for what he believed was in the best interest of the Town of Duxbury.”

“I’m very proud to have represented the town of Duxbury,” said Donato.

The proclamation also recognized Donato’s twenty years of commitment to coaching hockey in Duxbury.
