Duxbury police are investigating an incident of drug possession at Duxbury Middle School that has resulted in the arrest of one student and could potentially involve others. Police Chief Mark DeLuca said that on Friday morning, a 14-year-old student was arrested at DMS for possession of marijuana. Police got a call from school officials regarding the incident and arrived at around 8:45 a.m. to take the eighth grader into custody. DeLuca said that the student’s parents were called regarding the arrest. He also said that as of Tuesday, one student is involved with the incident, but that "this could possibly involve several more students." DeLuca added that to his knowledge, Friday’s arrest had nothing to do with a middle school ski trip held last week. Both DMS Principal Jo Ellen Scannell and Superintendent of Schools Eileen Williams said on Monday that the matter was a "student discipline issue" which they could not comment on. "It’s confidential," said Scannell. DeLuca said that the investigation into the matter was ongoing, but it would most likely be completed in one or two days. He could not elaborate on what charges the students would face in connection with the incident.
