Business has never been better at the Duxbury Thrift Shop. As all of us tighten our belts a bit, more and more people are discovering that the shop in Foodie’s Plaza at Hall’s Corner is a great place to find bargains and to make a little extra money by consigning items that they no longer love. This is great news for Duxbury High School seniors because the shop was able to award a record number of scholarships this year, topping $40,000 for the first time ever. But now the shop is bursting at the seams. Time for more space! On Jan. 1, the Duxbury Thrift Shop will move across the Plaza to the much larger space formerly occupied by the Video Scene, next to the Cleaner Spot and Paint Paddle. Kerry Youngstrom will be opening “Gotta Dance Studio†in the space formerly occupied by the shop. The shop is grateful to all of these local businesses for their flexibility and support. It will be great to see all of the shops in the Plaza occupied again! The move will take place between Jan. 1-5, with plans to be open for business in the new location on Tuesday, Jan. 6. The Duxbury Thrift Shop is staffed entirely by volunteers and benefits scholarships for deserving Duxbury High School graduates. Volunteers are needed to help get the new space ready and to move the inventory. If you would like to help, please call the Thrift Shop President Lydia Hart at 781-934-2432.  |
