Sen. Robert Hedlund (R-Weymouth) and Rep. Daniel Webster (R-Pembroke) recently announced that the Duxbury Housing Authority has received a $21,435 state grant from the Department of Housing and Community Development. The money will be used to purchase and install 52 low-flow toilets in housing authority units. Low-flow toilets use just 1.6 gallons of water per flush – less than half the amount of water used by standard toilets. The grant is part of a statewide effort by DHCD to purchase more than 3,000 low-flow toilets, shower heads and other installation accessories for public housing units. “These fixtures will help the Duxbury Housing Authority save money while reducing stress on the town’s water supply,†Sen. Hedlund said. “With many cities and towns struggling in today’s economy, this grant will certainly help the town of Duxbury,†Rep. Webster said. |
