What happens when a problem stretches over borders and cultures and is just too big and complex to be addressed by any single organization?

After the recent blizzard finally left Duxbury’s shores, residents turned to dealing with extensive cleanup and restoration. Some of the most serious damage was at Duxbury Beach.

For 45 years, Anne Bowes has been showing her Pembroke Welsh Corgis at dog shows across the nation and around the world. Last Monday, she was invited to judge at the 137th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, one of the premier dog shows in the nation.

The two candidates vying to be Duxbury’s next town manager said in interviews last week that one of the main reasons they aspire to this position is Duxbury is considered “the gold standard” for well-run communities.

Residents spread out in many rooms of the Duxbury Senior Center on Sunday to warm up and charge their electronic devices.

Senior Center staff worked extended hours over the weekend, after a major snowstorm pummelled the South Shore, causing widespread power outages that were still being felt on Tuesday afternoon. 

As crews continue to work tirelessly fixing pipes, downed wires and restoring power, residents are taking to social media to get information about when they should expect life to return to normal. 

With rumors circulating around town about structural damage at the Duxbury Public Schools, Superintendent Dr. Ben Tantillo sent a message out to students and parents, addressing rumors and correcting information. 

Four days after "Nemo" hit the South Shore, many Duxbury residents are still in the dark and are not sure when power will be restored. 

Duxbury Pizza defies power outage

Despite howling winds, massive power outages and blizzard conditions, one Duxbury business stayed open throughout Blizzard 2013, welcoming neighbors and adventurous residents.

The 911 Emergency Communication Center, referred to as the Duxbury Emergency Communications Center, was officially relocated from the police station on West Street. to the fire station on Tremont Street. on Tuesday, Jan. 29.

The contractors are on site at the Powder Point bridge and the repair work is underway to fix the twelve deteriorated piles that have caused the bridge’s closure.
