An infant child was removed from a Franklin Street home and turned over
to the state’s Department of Social Services on Tuesday morning.
An infant child was removed from a Franklin Street home and turned over to the state’s Department of Social Services on Tuesday morning.
Lt. Chip Chubb of the Duxbury Police Department said that DSS called local police with concerns about the child’s health. “The concern was borne by conditions in the home and the mother’s ability to care for the child,” said Chubb. Police responded to the home on Tuesday and found the child’s mother and another male home at the time. Chubb said the man was arrested after officers found a small amount of marijuana on his person. Chubb added that the child was in good health when found and that a medical evaluation was not necessary. An ambulance was called as a precaution, said Chubb, but then called off by officers. The child was then turned over to a DSS employee who was responding to the home after the call was made to police. Chubb said no charges are being filed against the mother of the child.
