According to Trooper Steven Boyle of the Massachusetts State Police barracks in Cheshire, Peter J. Noble, 48, lost control of his 2002 Yamaha motorcycle around 9:28 a.m. Saturday morning and struck a guardrail and bridge abutment near the town line of Florida. Florida is about 10 miles south of North Adams. He said that fire departments from Florida and a nearby town responded to the scene of the accident on Route 2 as did the North Adams Ambulance Service. Boyle said that because of the seriousness of his injuries, a landing strip was set up across from the Florida Town Hall so that a LifeFlight helicopter could transport Noble to the Albany (N.Y.) Medical Center. On Monday, a spokesperson from the hospital said Noble was listed in fair condition, but could not give information on the extent of his injuries. Boyle did say that Noble was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and that the incident was still under investigation.
