The Duxbury High School Drama Club soared to success at the PAC last Saturday winning the preliminary round of at the Massachusetts Educational Theatre Guild (METG) High School Drama Festival. Their steam punk production of CageBirds by David Campton was selected to advance to the semi final round of competition to be held at Norwood High School on Saturday, March 9. Directed by Darin MacFarlane and Mandy McLellan, CageBirds also received four prestigious METG All-Star Awards. Madi Tower and Emily Zisko received individual awards for excellence in acting. Jaime Phillips was honored for excellence in set design. Maddy Lies received a dual award for excellence in costume and make-up design. 115 high school drama clubs assembled across the state at 14 different locations for the preliminary round of competition on March 2. The Duxbury Performing Arts Center was one of the regional locations hosting more than 400 high students from eight high schools including Acton-Boxborough High School, Cohasset High School, Duxbury High School, Middleboro High School, Norwood High School, Sandwich High School and South Shore Charter High School. The METG Festival culminates with ten top high school performances on March 21-23 at John Hancock Hall in Boston.
