Throughout the storm and all day on Monday, the department kept on top of their social media, responding to residents’ concerns as they came in.

As of 8:30 p.m. on Monday, NStar met with the department and emergency management and discussed their frustration with struggling to get the power restored to residents.  They were planning on having crews working late and possibly into the night, with new crews slated to continue work Tuesday morning.

During the power outages, the Senior Center remains open as a warming area and shelter for residents in need. Shuttle service is available for residents who do not have power or who are concerned about living in unsafe conditions.

Some roof deck damage and frozen pipe issues were discovered at the middle school around 7 p.m. on Monday, but emergency management assured residents there was no loss of structural damage, mainly some water damage.

Duxbury Fire department and emergency management advised residents with questions to call the Emergency Operations Center for assistance at 781-934-7159.

Power was restored to The Village of Duxbury around 5 p.m. on Monday after many hours of clearing debris. Resources from the National Guard, DCR and extra front-end loaders assisted the clean up effort. Residents got help from NStar as well as out of state crews.

As of noon on Monday, 62 percent of residents were without power and 20 percent of the roads were still impassable. The Senior Center opened as a warming center and residents were informed of a regional shelter open in Marshfield.
