The School Building Committee (SBC) met last week and approved Dimeo Construction Company’s Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) of $105,226,411 for construction of the new middle and high school and field house. This price is within the budget previously established for the project.
Residents can now follow the progress of the construction via live feed from a web camera that has been installed on the roof of the PAC. The Web- cam can be accessed through a link from the Duxbury Public Schools’ Web site at duxbury.k12.ma.us. Weekly updates and photographs are also provided on this site. The temporary traffic measures and parking changes have been implemented and the campus users have adapted easily to the changes. The SBC would like to recognize the assistance of the Duxbury Police Department during the first two weeks of school to assist the drivers and pedestrians in and around campus transition to the new routes. Construction is progressing on schedule. Minor renovations of the PAC have been completed to provide temporary egress so that full occupancy of the PAC may be maintained throughout the construction period. Exits that previously discharged occupants to the construction site have been replaced with additional temporary exits at the sides of the PAC. The foundations for the high school and middle school wings are nearly complete and foundation work is beginning in the area adjacent to the PAC. Much of the underground site utility work has also been completed. Structural steel for the building frame is set to arrive in mid-November, which will coincide with the start of construction on the field house. The SBC meets on the second Tuesday of the month. Meetings may also be scheduled for the fourth Tuesday of the month as needed. The next SBC meeting will be held on Nov. 13 in DHS Room 106, beginning at 7 p.m. Please visit the school Web site for additional information regarding the school project, construction updates and photographs, and School Building Committee meeting dates. |
