The Duxbury Planning Board cordially invites all residents to a storm water education presentation to be held on Wednesday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. at Town Hall, Mural Room, 878 Tremont St. The presentation will be led by Rich Claytor and Mark Nelson of the Horsley Witten Group, environmental consultants in Sandwich. Access to clean water is a crucial issue worldwide, and especially in a coastal community like Duxbury where our storm water discharge has a larger impact. Improving water quality locally helps to restore a regional resource and improves our future drinking water quality. Residents and business owners alike will find the presentation useful and informative. Representatives and staff from all town boards and committees are invited to attend this presentation since storm water issues affect multiple municipal projects. At this presentation you will find out what measures are in place today and how effectively they are working to protect our valuable water resources. You will also learn about cutting-edge practices and how they are incorporated into state regulations on storm water treatment. Find out how local measures to treat storm water runoff can have a meaningful impact on water quality in the town and region. Horsley Witten Group (HW) is widely recognized as one of the most experienced storm water management consultants in New England. Rich Claytor, P.E., is a Principal with over 25 years of experience in storm water management and design at the federal, state and local level. Mr. Claytor is the lead author of the recently updated storm water manual adopted by the State of Rhode Island that includes significant requirements to include low impact design principles in storm water designs. Mark Nelson, P.G., is also a Principal with the Horsley Witten Group with significant experience in water resource protection in Duxbury and other Massachusetts communities. He also leads HW’s work with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on groundwater protection, storm water and wastewater management projects. |
