Patrick Mahony, a first year student majoring in aeronautical and aerospace engineering in the School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Virginia has been named to the dean’s list for the fall semester. Elementary students in grades 4 - 6 at Bay Farm Montessori Academy recently participated in a community service project “Life Skills Baking.” The students learned how to make yeast bread from scratch, including proofing and rising the dough. They baked 22 loaves of bread in a kitchen at Bay Farm. The students then delivered the loaves to the Plymouth Area Coalition for the Homeless in Kingston. In addition to baking bread for the homeless, the students each received a kit to take home to make a second loaf to enjoy with their families. Boston University awarded academic degrees in 2012 to Ashley A. Johnston, who received her Master of Education in curriculum and teaching, and Chad R. Nagle, who was awarded a Master of Science in computer science. Five Duxbury residents have recently been named to the dean’s list at Boston University for the fall semester. Students recognized for this honor include: Katharine M. Boynton, Laura J. Nelson, Gabrielle L. Purcell, Tessa N. Riccio and Jaclyn Trevisani. The Massachusetts Department of Corrections celebrated the graduation of its 310th recruit class on Feb. 24 at Mechanics Hall in Worcester. The 310th graduating class had 212 corrections professionals, including 200 correction officers and 12 correction program officers. Jake R. Okerfelt was one of the graduates. VERC Enterprises has been named Employer of the Year by Westwinds Clubhouse in Fitchburg. Westwinds Clubhouse is one of 32 clubhouses within the Massachusetts Clubhouse Coalition, a non-profit organization committed to helping people with long term mental illness find employment, housing, education, services and support in the community. Leo and Paul Vercollone, President/CEO and Vice President respectively of VERC Enterprises, in addition to Westwinds Clubhouse member Ryan who is employed by VERC and other VERC staff have been invited to attend the Massachusetts Clubhouse Coalition awards ceremony on April 10 that the State House in Boston. |
