Police Investigating Discovery of Body

Duxbury police along with Massachusetts State Police and the state’s medical examiner are investigating the discovery of a dead body at a home on Bay Farm Road.

Duxbury police along with Massachusetts State Police and the state’s medical examiner are investigating the discovery of a dead body at a home on Bay Farm Road.

Lt. Roger Banfill said Duxbury police received a call around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday from a neighbor reporting that a car was inside the garage of the home that was supposed to be empty.  Banfill said that upon arriving at the scene, police investigated the garage and found the body of a 39-year-old man inside the car who had apparently passed away overnight.

Banfill said that Duxbury police were soon joined by state police and the state’s medical examiner to investigate the exact cause of death of the man and remained at the scene until 2 p.m.  As of Monday, Banfill said that no cause had been determined, but the death could not necessarily be deemed suspicious.

“The case is under investigation, but as of now, we are not sure what happened,” he said.

Banfill added that the man used to live at the house and that his parents, the current owners of the property, arrived at the scene after 1 p.m. on Sunday, aware that a car had been found at the home, but not aware of the death.

Banfill said he expects more information to develop this week, including the medical examiner’s release of the exact cause of death.
