Annual beach cleanup scheduled

The 22nd annual CoastSweep Beach Clean-up is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 19.  The event is sponsored by Battelle, the Duxbury Beach Preservation Society and the Jones River Landing Environmental Heritage Center.  The clean-up is part of a nation-wide effort organized by the Center of Marine Conservation in Washington D.C.  Last year, volunteers collected over 2460 pounds of trash from Duxbury Beach!  Volunteers can pick up collection supplies and data sheets at the east end of the Powder Point Bridge between 9 a.m. and 12 noon on Saturday the 19th.
