The Coolidge Corner Theatre has teamed up with the Duxbury Performing Arts Center to present a series of summer art films. The final movie will be running on Saturday, Aug. 22. 7 p.m. – “Earth Days†(Not Rated): An engaging overview about the origins of the modern environmental movement, told through the eyes of nine Americans who were inspired to act on what they believed was the most important challenge facing mankind. Selected as the Closing Feature of this year’s Sundance Film Festival, Earth Days examines both the groundbreaking achievements and missed opportunities of a decade of activism. Directed by Robert Stone. 9 p.m. – “Humpday†(R): It’s been a decade since Ben and Andrew were the bad boys of their college campus. Ben has settled down and found a job, wife, and home. Andrew took the alternate route as a vagabond artist, skipping the globe from Chiapas to Cambodia. When Andrew shows up unannounced on Ben’s doorstep, they easily fall back into their old dynamic of macho one-upmanship. But, things take an interesting turn when they lock into an envelope-pushing mutual dare – to co-star in a self-made gay porn film. Directed by Lynn Shelton. |
