Selectmen Andre Martecchini and Betsy Sullivan voted to support an article that would create a revolving fund to take in money generated from when the town sells digital information from its Geographic Information System or GIS. Selectmen John Tuffy voted against the article.

The article would create an account to hold funds collected when the town sold electronic information regarding properties generated by the GIS system. The town has digitized its assessors maps and is working on putting other information into electronic form. The public can access this information on the Internet, but it cannot manipulate it. If a developer or engineer requested customized electronic data from the town on a CD, for example water connections on a particular street, the town would sell this for a fee. The fees collected would go into a revolving fund and a committee would then decide how to direct the town's information technology director on how to spend the money.

Tuffy didn't like the idea of the fees in the revolving fund being specified for a certain purpose and not going back into the town's general fund once related expenses were paid for.

Martecchini disagreed: "The concept of a revolving fund is a good one," he said. "This is not going to be some big money generator" for the town.

The revolving fund may not have any more than $40,000 in it at any one time. Anything over that is put into the town's general fund.

All selectmen supported the planning board's next article, which is the addition of two maps to the town's collection of zoning maps. One of the two new maps shows publicly-owned land. The other is a WASA map, showing waterfront scenic areas, said Planning director Christine Stickney. The maps were updated in 2005.

Selectmen did not discuss a third planning board article, the acceptance of Deer Run off of Birch St. as a public way because the planning board hearing on this article will be on February 27.

In other business, selectmen:

� Supported an article to fund the Fourth of July parade and celebration for $10,000. Margaret Kearney of the July 4th committee said it costs $30,000 to put on the annual parade and beach party. The rest of the money comes from private fundraising.

� Allowed a two-day rug sale at Island Creek Village to be held on March 11-12 by United Rug Auctioneers or North Easton, MA.

� Permitted a wedding ceremony to take place on May 13 for 12 people at Bay Farm field from 4 to 5 pm. Dawn Kelley is to marry Shawn Ormont and she requested the ceremony take place at this public open space.
