Richard D. (Dick) Glass, age 72, retired Master Sergeant, USAF, of Addison, Maine, formerly of Wareham, died at his home on May 17. Mr. Glass was born in Duxbury on June 26, 1939 to Ellen H. (Hanigan) and Delbert C. Glass. He was a 1957 graduate of Rindge Technical High School in Cambridge. After graduation, he served as an air technician in the US Air Force until 1970 and retired as a Master Sergeant from the Air National Guard 102nd Fighter Interceptor Wing in 1986. One of the original members of the rescue dive squad, Mr. Glass served on the Duxbury Volunteer Fire Department from 1959 to 1971. He enjoyed boating, fishing, sea clamming and reading. Mr. Glass leaves his wife of 52 years, Greta E. Glass; his children, Lisa L. Thibodeau and her husband Robert of North Carolina, Richard B. Glass and his wife Tammy J. (Berryman) of West Wareham, Kerry Glass and his wife Joanne M. (Coogan) of Hanson and Tammie Glass of Hanson; ten grandchildren, one great-granddaughter; a sister, Nancy Hanigan of Lakeville, and a cousin who was more like a brother, Loren C. Nass of Duxbury. The family is thankful for the special friendship of Teresa Dempsey of Columbia, Maine. Graveside services with full military honors will be held at the Mayflower Cemetery, 774 Tremont Street, Duxbury on Wednesday, May 23 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Addison Volunteer Fire Department, Addison, ME 04606.
