Daphne Herrick Dunn of Hopkinton died at home on May 3, 2012, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born July 8, 1953 to the late Thomas and Dorothy Herrick of Duxbury. Mrs. Dunn graduated from Duxbury High School in 1972. She attended Bradford College and graduated with honors with a degree in Liberal Arts and attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where she studied early childhood education. Mrs. Dunn was married to Richard Dunn in 1978 and they lived in Westboro, Northboro, Lexington, Ky., and finally settled in Hopkinton for the past 18 years. She worked for Stryco Electronics, Honeywell and Digital Equipment Corporation in a variety of manufacturing quality positions and followed this by a career as a stay at home mom to raise her daughter, Kelley. Mrs. Dunn enjoyed vacationing in Florida, Aruba, Barbados, Bahamas, Hawaii and Ireland, but most of all treasured her trips to Saquish. She was noted for her passion for her pets, cooking and was a dedicated Red Sox fan. She was active in the Humane Society. Mrs. Dunn leaves her husband, Richard; her daughter, Kelley Dunn; her sisters, Elizabeth Merry, Debbie Herrick, Gwenn Caldwell, Penelope Herrick; and a brother, Thomas Herrick III. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 2 at the First Parish Church, 842 Tremont St. in Duxbury. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund. |
