Born and raised in Brockton, Mr. Greenbaum lived in Duxbury for the past 13 years. He was the son of the late Franklin and Ethel (Cohen) Greenbaum. He graduated from Marietta College in 1970.

Mr. Greenbaum served in the U.S. National Guard from 1971-1977.

Mr. Greenbaum had worked for 27 years in the shoe industry.  He was a former member of the Board of Directors of the Shoe Service Institute of America and the Two-Ten organization, a charity of shoe people helping shoe people.  He was also Chairman of Shoe Smarts, a group formed to help promote shoe repair.

Mr. Greenbaum had worked at Stone Tarlow, Howes Leather, Biltrite Corporation Shoe Repair Division as Executive Vice President, QB Soling, and until the time of his death at SoleTech Incorporated as Executive Vice President. He was well known and revered throughout the industry.

Known by all as Harvey, Mr. Greenbaum was a familiar face behind the counter at Westwinds Bookshop. His well-known smile welcomed you at the door. He loved the fast paced page-turners and many a customer was known to ask, ìWhat’s Harvey reading?î when looking for book recommendations. He helped his wife, Cissy, run the bookshop for the past five-and-a-half years.

Mr. Greenbaum was a family man and especially enjoyed spending time with his two children. His goal in life was to endlessly support his children’s endeavors. His favorite local spots included Duxbury beach and Far Far’s Ice Cream. He was all the children’s favorite uncle because he was truly a kid at heart.

Mr. Greenbaum was the beloved husband of Cissy (Leonard) Greenbaum. He was the devoted father of Matthew and Rebecca Greenbaum, both of Duxbury. He leaves his dear sisters Faye Kaplan, of Sharon and Jane Crosscup, of Abington. He also leaves his mother-in-law Eleanor (Gillespie) Leonard, of Brockton in addition to many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.

A memorial service will be held Friday, March 5, at the First Parish Church, 842 Tremont Street, at 11 a.m. Donations may be made to any of the following: The Narissa Crosscup Memorial Scholarship, in memory of his niece, care of Mutual Federal Savings Bank, 570 Washington St., Whitman, 02382; or the Duxbury Interfaith Council Food Pantry, at PO Box 1171, Duxbury, 02331; or to the Harvey Greenbaum Scholarship Fund care of the Two-Ten Footwear Foundation, 1466 Main Street, Waltham, 02451.
