Duxbury Beach was a shocking shade of red which many residents labeled ‘red tide.’ Not so, said Duxbury Harbormaster Don Beers, who wanted the public to know this wasn’t the harmful algae blooms known as red tide which can be toxic to shellfish and the humans who eat them.

A Puritan Way couple out for a walk last week was approached by a man driving a pick-up truck who appeared disoriented and tried to grab the woman’s hand.
The couple reported the incident to police noting they didn’t feel threatened but were concerned for the welfare of the man. While Duxbury Police broadcast the report, DPD dispatch received another call from Chandler Street of a similar incident with a matching description of the man and truck. The caller was able to identifying which direction the truck was traveling and within minutes, Patrolman Timothy Wigmore located the suspect.

As the band played Pomp and Circumstance, the seniors in Duxbury colors — young men in green robes and young women in white robes — walked, strode and sauntered in sky high wedges, funky flip flops, natty sneakers and polished loafers, under the floral arches and on to their places of honor on the stage at the Performing Arts Center for their final moments of high school Saturday. This was the class of 2012 at their graduation.

An ongoing civil suit against the Town of Duxbury brought by Johnson Golf Management and ensuing accusations that Town Counsel Robert Troy was “not being truthful” in statements made at an October 4, 2010 Board of Selectmen hearing and before Middlesex District Court have resulted in the dismissal of Troy by the current Board of Selectmen. At the May 29 meeting, the board also voted to waive attorney-client privilege with regard to the Johnson Golf suit.
In an April 18 Clipper interview, Troy, who was town counsel for 26 years, denies he intentionally made false statements and that if he misspoke, it was because he believed what he said to be true at the time.
