Get ready for the summer’s swirl of arts and entertainment. You need to plan, and I’ll do my utmost to keep you informed ahead of time. Keep your eyes on the calendar section. I usually write about a single event, so there’s no way you can catch everything by reading “What’s Going On Here?”

Bathroom passes aside, AFS students excel at DHS
Tuesday, June 09, 2009 04:20 PM

It can be a scary experience, coming to a new country where you don’t speak the language and the culture seems unfamiliar. Especially for the students of the American Field Service exchange program, who have to wrestle with all the trials of high school life on top of the culture differences. But what really confounded the newest additions to Duxbury High School? Bathroom passes.

‘Live like Charlie,' grads told
Tuesday, June 09, 2009 04:29 PM

Hundreds of students and their families gathered on the grounds in front of Duxbury High School Saturday afternoon to celebrate the graduation of the DHS Class of 2009. Dragons do it again: Beat St. John’s Prep for 6th straight lax title
By Mike Halloran
Thursday, June 11, 2009 08:39 AM

You would think after winning five consecutive State titles and six of the last seven, the excitement for Coach Chris Sweet winning his seventh Division I State lacrosse title would be somewhat tempered. Don’t be fooled.

“We always believe we can do it, but it’s hard to believe it’s six in a row,” said the surprised Duxbury coach after his team beat St. John’s Prep, 13-12, on Wednesday night at Harvard Stadium. “It hasn’t quite sunk in yet. Poppy Days are here
By Administrator
Monday, May 18, 2009 02:36 PM
On Friday May 22 and Saturday May 23, members of the Duxbury Legion Auxiliary will be offering red poppies near the Duxbury Post Office.  These memorial poppies have been made in hospitals and workshops where the suffering of war still exists.  The disabled veterans who make these flowers can gain a dual benefit from their work. Money dropped into the contribution boxes in exchange for poppies goes directly to the welfare activities of the American Legion Auxiliary.  All funds are used for the aid of disabled veterans, their families, and families of deceased servicemen.
