Maryanne O’Hara, author of the critically acclaimed novel “Cascade,” will be at the Duxbury Free Library on Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 7 p.m. for reading and a book signing. “Cascade” is also a Westwinds’ staff pick and a recommended book club selection. This event is part of the Night Lights series, a partnership between the Duxbury Free Library and Westwinds Bookshop to bring evening literary events to the community.

Last week, the Duxbury School Committee approved a five-year technology plan that seeks to put a computer into the hands of every student within the next three years, which the plan calls a “1:1 learning environment.”

Duxbury residents at the polls last Tuesday, Nov. 6, voted to roll back the Community Preservation Act and to elect a Democrat as state representative for the Sixth Plymouth District. Of Duxbury’s 11,089 registered voters, 9,696 cast ballots. That is an 87 percent turnout.
