Selectmen reversed a decision to hold the March 22 town elections in the new Lt. Timothy J. Steele athletic building on St. George Street because they learned the elections will interfere with the local antiques show.
At the recommendation of Town Manager René Read, selectmen voted to hold the elections at their usual place, the T. Waldo Herrick memorial gymnasium at the Duxbury Middle School. The antique show, which is an annual fundraiser for the Duxbury Athletic Boosters, will take place at its usual place, the high school gym on Saturday, March 22 and Sunday, March 23. Read said that there would be traffic and parking problems if both events were held on the current high school campus.
Next year’s elections can be held at the field house because the new high school will be located across the street on Alden Street.
